We need your help to eliminate illegal dumping and discharges. If you see someone washing out painting equipment, dumping oil, emptying their swimming pool, or in any way allowing these or other types of hazardous waste to get on the ground or into the gutter or storm drains, please call your city representative as soon as possible. Once waste is on the ground it is in the watershed and can be carried by water through the storm drains and into our waterways, polluting our lakes, rivers and beaches. Each call is treated with confidentiality

It is unlawful for any person to throw or deposit any recyclable material, green waste, garbage, or rubbish upon any street, alley, gutter, park, or other public way…or upon any vacant lot or in any water or waterway or upon the levees or banks.
Anyone caught dumping may be charged with an infraction or misdemeanor. An infraction could carry local fines as high as $500 per occurrence and state penalties up to $10,000 per day.
