report illegal dumping

We need your help to eliminate illegal dumping. If you see someone washing out painting equipment, dumping oil, emptying their swimming pool, or in any way allowing these or other types of hazardous waste to get into the gutter or storm drains, please call your city representative as soon as possible. Water that goes into the gutter flows through the storm drain and into the watershed without being treated. Each call is treated with confidentiality.

It is unlawful for any person to throw or deposit any recyclable material, green waste, garbage, or rubbish upon any street, alley, gutter, park, or other public way...or upon any vacant lot or in any water or waterway or upon the levees or banks.

Anyone caught dumping may be charged with an infraction or misdemeanor. An infraction could carry local fines as high as $500 per occurence and state penalties up to $10,000 per day.

the watershed should only shed water
